ومن بين رياضات المغامرة الأشهر حول العالم، رياضة تسلق الجبال، فإلى جانب المخاطر التى يتعرض لها أحيانًا المتسلق بسبب الانهيارات الأرضية سواء على الجبال الجليدية أو الصخرية، يوجد جانب شيق فى تلك الرياضة تمتزج خلاله مشاعر ممارسيها ما بين الجرأة والاستمتاع بالمناظر الخلابة للجبال والسحب التى تخترقها المرتفعات الشاهقة.

جبل إفرست، وهو أعلى جبل على وجه الأرض، حيث يرتفع إلى حوالى 9 كم عن سطح البحر، وهو أحد الجبال التى تتكون منها سلاسل جبال الهملايا، على حدود الصين (التبت) ونيبال (ساجارماثا) وشمالى الهند، يتمتع بإقبال كبير ومتميز بين أكثر القمم الجبلية الشهيرة التى يحرص المتسلقون على الوصول إلى قمتها.
